Tips to tuning your Wi-Fi

Think. You live in a metropolitan center in a big city. In your square, have six builds with 20 levels and four apartment per level. Make the calculation. One wireless 802.11 (means your domestic wi-fi, like a 802.11bgn/ac) per apartment. 20 x 4 x 6 = 480 home hot-spots. You known what this means? A flood of noise. In my window, I can receive signal from three under and over levels, eight floors for my five neighbors (from other builds) and my Wi-Fi. Yes. I have or WE are a biggest trouble.

RADICAL TIPS:

1. Change to a farm with no wireless noise.
2. Stop to use the wireless and connect direct to your router/modem.

1. First, you can use the spectral analyzer. Have many and many softwares. You can use Yahoo, Bing or Google to search a free option. I used WiFiExplorer 2.0 for my case. This is perfectly compatible with Yosemite OS. Look at the picture 1.
2. Check the channel with less wireless. Change your router or hotspot to another free or channel with low noise.
3. Change your hotspot password. This option can cut the wireless intruders.
4. Select the best and center position of your Wi-Fi router/hotspot to make the best signal for your home.

ADVANCED TIPS:

1. No "RADICAL TIPS" will be need.
2. You need to make the "CHEAP TIPS" too.
3. Select the best options for routers, access point or hotspot with advanced features. Example: Ubiquiti, CISCO and Apple products was recommended. For my case, I used the Apple AirPort Express (about US$ 99.00).
4. Change / Upgrade your devices and router/access point/hotspot to 5GHz wireless band (all brands listed before have this technology). It's highest recommended, because in many developing countries people can not afford to buy a device that has such technology.
5. Make the extension for your Wi-Fi network using the MAC clone (you will see only one wireless SSID). If your home is so big, You need to install more wireless points to make your signal better and powerful. I recommended to use the WiFiExplorer software or another you like to make a refined analysis in all rooms of your home to position the best place.
